SMTP settings

Shared IP plans are only available to customers in Denmark.

Set up Scan to Email on imageRUNNER / imageRUNNER ADVANCE

1

Open the Remote UI

Find the printer IP address on the device control panel or by printing a network settings page. Enter the IP in a browser (for example, http://192.168.1.50). Log in as an administrator if required.
2

Navigate to email settings

Go to Settings/Registration > Send > E-mail/I-Fax Settings. On some models the path is Network Settings > E-mail Settings.
3

Enter the SMTP server

In the SMTP Server field, enter your mySMTP relay hostname (for example, relayxx.mysmtp.com). Set the port to 587.
4

Enable SMTP authentication

Turn on SMTP Authentication and enter your mySMTP username and password.
5

Configure TLS

Enable Use TLS for SMTP or SMTP TX (TLS) if the option is available. Do not enable POP before SMTP.
6

Set the sender address

In the From Address or Default Sender field, enter an email address that uses a domain authenticated on your mySMTP account.
7

Save and test

Save the settings and send a test scan to your own email address. Check your inbox and spam folder.
Do not enable POP before SMTP on Canon devices. mySMTP uses SMTP authentication, not POP authentication.

PIXMA and MAXIFY note

PIXMA and MAXIFY all-in-one printers do not always expose full SMTP settings in the Remote UI. Some models require you to use the IJ Scan Utility or Canon PRINT app to scan to a file and then send it manually. If your PIXMA or MAXIFY printer does offer Scan to Email in the EWS, apply the same server and authentication settings listed above.

Troubleshooting

Older Canon firmware may not support STARTTLS. Switch to port 2525 and disable TLS. Check Canon’s support site for a firmware update.
Re-enter your mySMTP username and password. Do not enable POP before SMTP.
Confirm the From Address uses a domain authenticated on your mySMTP account.
Reduce the resolution or use black-and-white scanning to keep the file under the attachment size limit. See Email Attachments Size.
